Nico MINARDOS

MINARDOS, Nico Died peacefully at the age of eighty-one of natural causes on Saturday August 27th in Los Angeles with his family by his side. Nico was born February 15th, 1930 in Athens, Greece of parents George and Christina. He spent his childhood in Athens from 1930 until the age of 18. He was educated at Bergon high school in Athens and attended the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1950 he immigrated to the United States and moved to Los Angeles where he studied and graduated from UCLA. From 1952 through the 1980's Nico worked as an actor in Hollywood movies and television with a contract at Twentieth Century Fox. His first movie appearance was in Monkey Business with Marilyn Monroe and Cary Grant. Some of his other film credits include: Istanbul with Errol Flynn, It Happened in Athens with Jayne Mansfield, Twelve Hours To Kill in which he starred opposite Barbara Eden, Assault on Agathon which he produced and starred in with Marrianne Faithfull and John Woodvine. He also guest starred in numerous TV shows including Twilight Zone, Alias Smith and Jones, Maverick and Mission Impossible. Nico was also the subject of a recent documentary titled Finding Nico.
Nico was briefly married to Deborah Ann Smith who later married Tyrone Power. Nico and Julie Minardos were married in 1965 at the Palm Springs Racket Club and raised their two children George and Nina in Beverly Hills California. During his life Nico and his family lived in Greece, Los Angeles, London and Ft. Lauderdale. His hobbies included cooking, tennis, handball, flying, music, backgammon, bridge and sailing. He was charming, positive, loved to tell stories, was kind to strangers and loved animals. If single words could sum him up, they would be; compassionate, generous, loyal, loving and a man of integrity. Among his many achievements, he was most proud of his close family. Nico is survived by Julie Minardos, his children George (Kristen) Minardos, Nina (Dan) Aloni, his three beloved Grandchildren and his devoted caregiver, numerous family members and life-long friends.
