Norman Bogner Obituary

November 13, 1935 - December 12, 2022 Norman Bogner (November 13, 1935 – December 12, 2022) was a Bestselling author whose work included fourteen published novels including the semi-autobiographical SEVENTH AVENUE, which was subsequently made into a 6-hour miniseries for NBC. In addition, he wrote the Universal Pictures film PRIVILEGE.

Bogner, born in Brooklyn, NY, spent many of his early writing years living in Europe. He eventually settled in London, England where he married Felice Gordon (manager of iconic fashion model Jean Shrimpton). They divorced and he married two more times. His third wife was legendary agent Bettye McCartt.

Early on, Bogner worked as an editor for publisher Jonathan Cape, where he edited the works of some legendary authors. Afterwards, Bogner was story editor for "Armchair Theatre" and was responsible for over 100 hours of network television. It was also at this time that he wrote the stage play THE WAITERS.

Bogner is survived by his half-sister Randi Rapp, and three children with his first wife: Jonathan, Nicholas and Alexander. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Oliver, Emily, Gabriel, and Noah.

Bogner's books have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and are housed in the Syracuse library, his alma mater.

I'm a little late as I've just learned of Norms demise. However, want to say how much I enjoyed his work. Norm was my favorite author by far and not that long ago he was gracious enough to respond to my emails which led to a friendly and productive dialogue. He is my writing inspiration as I'm almost done with my first novel. Neil Slofkis. Boca Raton, Fla

My condolences to the family and friends of Norman Bogner. He hired me as a proofreader when I was first striking out on my own. I was always grateful to him for taking a chance on me.
