Patrick Britt Obituary

January 18, 1940 - February 5, 2022 An accomplished saxophonist, composer and record producer, Pat Britt was revered by all who knew him for his warmth, generosity, and wit. Britt died peacefully at the home of his daughter Tristan in Astoria, Ore. A Pittsburgh, Pa. native, he was raised in the Bay Area and moved to Los Angeles in 1970, where he performed regularly -- including a 25-year hit at the Cat & Fiddle Pub in Hollywood -- and produced albums for such notables as Sonny Stitt on Catalyst and Vee-Jay Records. Britt is survived by a large, loving family and many friends.

I worked at Springboard Records with Pat. We began good friends. He wrote a song for me which I have hanging on my wall in the frame. I will never forget you Pat Britt and I'll miss you even though we never stayed in touch it was a joy to work with you and all the jazz musicians at springboard records rest in peace dear friend.

I just saw this obit by accident. Pat and I became very close in the sixties when he and Nancy were living in Boulder Creek, California. At that time he was playing in the Don Piestrup rehearsal band in Oakland and took me with him for company on the long drive. I have many wonderful memories playing music and hanging out with him and was part of a number of pranks and adventures with him. We lost contact after he moved to LA and my attempts to reach him through Bach Dynamite and Dancing Society etc were fruitless. Yet I shall still miss his presence on this planet.

My dearest Uncle Pat, who I loved infinitely. We had an amazing bond and I know he loved me as much as I loved him. There was, and is, no one like him. His amazing and hilarious antics and stories. His "eclectic" taste in clothing and gifts. He entertained and amused us all. My heart is broken, but you will live there forever, Uncle Pat. And some day, farther up the road, we all all join you and our other dear departed loved ones.

"Go n-eiri an bothar leat".

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
And until we meet again,
May god hold you in the palm of his hand.

My dear, dear Uncle Pat, who I love infinitely. We had an amazing bond, and I know you loved me as much as I loved you. There is no one like him on this planet. His crazy antics and stories that amused us all so much. The "eclectic" gifts he gave us all. Never a dull moment! None of us is perfect, but for me, the man was all love. I will carry you in my heart forever, Uncle Pat, your love and influence live on in all those that you have left behind you, but we will join you, along with our other departed loved ones, later on down the road.
"Go n-eiri an bothar leat".
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May god hold you in the palm of his hand.
