Patrick L. Welsh

1941 - 2017

June 2, 1941 - September 13, 2017 Patrick Lewis Welsh, Sr., passed away September 13, 2017 at the age of 76 surrounded by family. With his wife JoAnn, Pat created a family which was his greatest pride and will be a 'grand' (as he liked to say) legacy for the life he lived. He was known by all as kind, generous, and compassionate with a quick wit and great sense of humor. Pat had a strong moral compass and people were drawn to him for guidance. From early on, Pat was a leader (mostly by example), from serving as class president at Delaware St. Mary's High School in his birthplace of Columbus, Ohio, to his service on the USS Basilone Destroyer with the US Navy from 1959-1963, to his role as Vice President at Union Bank, and especially as Owner and President for 37 years of Pat's General Store and The Royal Oak in Blue Jay. Pat had a strong work ethic and his good natured humor brought out the best in those around him. Pat always put his family, friends, and community first. Among his many community and church involvements, the Lake Arrowhead Community benefited from his work on the Mountains Community Hospital Foundation, and his role as a founding member of the Arrowhead Arts Association. He and his wife JoAnn were recognized as Citizens of the Year in 1999 for their many contributions to the community. Pat is survived by his wife of 51 years, JoAnn; three children and spouses Pat and Kathy Welsh, Don and Kelli Welsh, and Stephanie and Chris Foucek; and his grandchildren who adored their Papa: Jack, Tom, Henry Patrick, Donald, Ford, Cooper, Patrick Clement, Sadie, Lucy, and Emily, extended family and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arrowhead Arts Association in his name at PO Box 1930, Lake Arrowhead, CA 92352. There will be a Celebration of Life on October 28 at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
