Pearle Levey Obituary
Pearle Rae was born in Denver, Colorado on Thanksgiving Day, 1929, to Rose and Jess Kortz. She cherished six generations of her family. She attended East High School in Denver and obtained her undergraduate degree in vocal music from the University of Colorado. She had a successful show business career, singing for national business conventions and with symphony orchestras. Pearle Rae was a recording artist and also hosted radio and television shows. She entertained at events for charities including Rose, Children's, and Craig hospitals in Denver. Following her singing career, Pearle Rae stewarded the family real estate and investment business.
Pearle Rae's civic activities included serving on the Board of Central City Opera in Colorado and the Boards of Cedars-Sinai Hospital and the JVS SoCal scholarship fund in Los Angeles. She especially enjoyed selecting and mentoring the scholarship recipients.
Pearle Rae is survived by her son Ken (Barbara) Laff, her daughter-in-law Lisa (Alan of blessed memory) Laff, her grandchildren Laura Laff, James (Liz) Laff, Emily Laff, David (Maddy) Laff, and Izzie (Nate) Gall, and her great-granddaughter Rose. She was predeceased by her loving husband of twenty-five years, Mark B. Levey, and is survived by family members son-in-law Alan (Deborah) Levey, daughter-in-law Nancy (Jeff) Cherry, grandchildren Jeremy Levey, Justin (Ashlee) Levey, Matthew (Alex) Cherry, Jenny (Graeme) Rothe, Xander Oltmann, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Charlotte, and Myles.
Services will be held at the chapel at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles on August 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed on Hillside's website and will be available for viewing afterwards as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles or to a charity of choice.
