October 9, 1946 - August 8 Raymond Blue was born on October 9, 1946, within the marriage of the late Elijah Odom (from Minden, LA) and Victoria Hall (from Ringgold, LA). Later, Victoria married Robert Blue, who adopted, nurtured, and loved Ray as his own son in Los Angeles, CA.
Ray attended 92nd Street Elementary, Markham Junior High, Jordan High, and Southwest Community College – in Los Angeles, CA. Ray met his first love, Julia Riley, in Elementary School at age 5. To their union many years later, they became parents to their oldest daughter, Shereda Blue-Holmes. Five years later, they would grow their family with a set of twin daughters, Ahndrea Blue and Ahmbur Blue. Later, Ray would meet and marry Rosalind Scott. Many years later, Ray had a son, Rhaymand Blue (Mother: Cynthia James).
Ray was a man of faith who had a beautiful smile and many talents. He was an activist with the Sons of Watts Community Improvement Organization, a Vietnam veteran, a co-founder of the Watts Riders Motorcycle Club, an entrepreneur, an avid reader, a chess player, and could play several instruments: including the piano. Ray loved to travel with his family and ride his motorcycle. He had a generous spirit and loved to help others. Most of all, Ray was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend.
Our dearly beloved Raymond Blue passed away on August 8, 2020, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Burdeen Odom-Pugh and Brenda Blue, and brothers: Bobby Odom-Blue, Eddie Odom-Blue, and Willie Odom-Blue. He is survived by his loving wife: Rosalind Scott-Blue, lifelong friend: Julia Riley, children: Shereda Holmes (Kevin) of Los Angeles, CA, Ahndrea Blue (Seattle, WA), Ahmbur Blue (Seattle, WA), and Rhaymand Blue (Lancaster, CA), brothers: Herman Felix "Ricky" Blue (Los Angeles, CA), Freddie Blue (Pasadena, CA) and Randy Blue (Los Angeles, CA), aunts: Zelma Hall-Hawkins (Alameda, CA) and Ruby Blue (passed away 10/21/2020; Los Angeles, CA) & uncle: Bill Blue (Hazel) of (Placentia, CA) and many people that loved him to include cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Raymond Blue was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery (Section 54B; Site 1359) in Riverside, CA, with Victor Riley officiating.
