Richard Eller Obituary

June 24, 1932 - August 9, 2024 Richard J. Eller, adored family man, attorney, diehard Democrat and Dodger fan, died of complications from an infection on August 9. Rick was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and moved with his family to Los Angeles at the age of two. A football player and boxer in his high school and college days, Rick attended Los Angeles High School, UCLA undergrad, and UCLA Law. Yes, he was that Rick Eller-the handsome one of storied good looks. He met Lory (Lorraine) Riff after serving in the army and they married in 1957. Their love story lasted 67 years. Two tales that illustrate who he was: #1. The gardener was underperforming and Rick went outside to let him go. A few minutes later he returned. "What happened
" "I gave him a raise." #2. The family has dinner at its usual haunt, Casa Vega. The meal ends and they drive home. Rick realizes that he forgot to leave a tip. Gets back in the car and returns to Casa Vega. Generous, warm, funny, loving, smart, Rick is survived by his wife Lory; daughter Daryn and husband Andy; daughter Alison and husband Kevin; son Michael and wife Heather; grandchildren Kyle, Madeline, Chandler, Brandon, and Aidan; brother Robert and sister, Joy. He was predeceased by his brother Jay.
