Hello, I know this is very late, but I was recently in LA, visiting my daughter and thought of Richard and Googled him. I was very upset to learn that he had passed. Richard and I dated on and off in the late 80's. I had moved to LA to work in the film industry, but was having a hard time. He suggested I try teaching. Because of him, I was in education for 25+ years. Just wanted to let you know that he changed my life. Michelle, I did meet you once. You were a teenager. I'm sure you don't remember. Take care.

I remember a very cool gentleman who was my 3rd(maybe 4th) grade teacher at Hart Street school in Canoga Park. He played the guitar during recess, introducing us to a song that a friend had written, but wasn´t on the air waves yet. I can´t think of the title off hand(I´m old), but every time I´ve had the pleasure of hearing that song on the radio, I have always thought of my teacher, Mr. Russo. He was a handsome man, talented and very cool. It sounds as though he lived a lovely, full life. I´m happy about that. May he rest in peace

If you were lucky, you got Mr. Russo as a teacher. I have so many great memories of his class. Writing spelling stories and drawing green cards to win prizes or do challenges. He was a great photographer and I still have a picture he took which I won in a writing contest. He rode a chopper and played the guitar and sang "You Talk Too Much" - he was cool and encouraging. Rest in Peace Mr. Russo, God Bless you.

Mr Russo was my 4th grade teacher and without exaggeration, he literally changed the way I saw the world. Long hair, played the guitar. Rode a triumph I believe and had an MG sports car. He gave me my first A and encouraged me to write and enjoy books. He is thought of often by me. I am truly sadden to hear of his passing.

If this is the same Richard Russo who taught at Fullbright Elementary beginning in the early 1970's, then I, as one of his students, can attest to the claim that he was born to be a teacher. Mr. Russo was ahead of his time. He introduced our 4th grade class to home-made kite flying and arranged for a horseback riding trip for our class on his own time. For many of us, that was an experience we would have never been exposed to if it weren't for him. He sported long hair and suede jackets and was the epitome of cool. He will never be forgotten. Thank you, Mr. Russo for making a difference.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends if Dick. I didn´t have much contact with Dick after high school except seeing him at the 50th taft reunion, but I have the wonderful memory of going to the senior prom with him. We had a wonderful time, and I´m happy to have that lovely memory. RIP Dick.
