Robert Getz Obituary

Robert Edward Getz died peacefully December 24, 2013, survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice Williams Getz, two children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was born in Los Angeles May 30, 1920. He was the youngest child of Estelle and Milton Getz of the Union Bank family. Robert met his wife Alice in kindergarten, reunited at Stanford and were married in 1944 while Robert was on leave during World War II. After the war they began their whirlwind life together. Robert completed law school in just two years while working full-time for Union Bank. He went to work for his friend David May in the mid-1950s, developing shopping centers for the May Department Stores. Robert and Alice found great pleasure in world-wide travel, and were especially fond of their vacation home in Gorinchem, Netherlands. He was a model for us all. He and his family are grateful to his caregiver Crisma Fuchs.
