Robert Grum Obituary

GRUM , Robert
The death of Robert M. Grum occurred on April 21, 2007. He was born on November 19, 1918, in Globeville, a suburb of Denver, Colorado; one of two children born to Matthew and Mary Grum. He completed his primary and secondary education in Denver. He graduated from the University of Colorado on June 10, 1942, and on the same day entered the military service. On April 1, 1943, he was commissioned at Harvard University as a statistical officer in the Army Air Forces. Upon separation from service, he commenced the study of law and was admitted to practice law in the State of California in 1951, and commenced his own private practice on January 2, 1954, retiring on June 21, 1994.
He joins his bride of 59 years, Dorothy C. Grum, who died on October 21, 2000; he referred to his loving and attentive wife as the paragon of womanhood. She was a medical doctor. They had adjoining offices in their own building at 233 Avenida Norte, Redondo Beach, California, and retired from their respective practices on the same day.
Their four children survive him: Robert M. Grum, Jr., of San Diego, California; Gregory Louis Grum, of Palm Desert, California; Dru Grum Schroeter of West Linn, Oregon and Mari Grum Brooker of Lake Oswego, Oregon, along with nine grandchildren: Hannah Grum Phillips, Matthew B. Grum, Luke Schroeter, Nicole Schroeter, Richard Brooker, Jr., Max Brooker, Drew Brooker, Gavin Grum and Natalie Grum, and one great-grandchild Grant Michael Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, he requested that you donate to your favorite charity.

My wife and I and our chidren are so very fortunate for having shared in the life of Robert M. Grum. We are fortunate to be within the group of those who were privileged to call Bob Dad, Grandpa, or Uncle as well as friend. I was most privilged to also call him Partner.
We have lost a special and unique gift from God. I have never known a man of greater character and integrity. I believe Uncle Bob's character was forged out of his strong belief in a personal God who created us and all that is around us, and who loves and cares for each of us.
I have no doubt that when his spirit departed his earthly shell he was met with open arms by his Lord who must have said "Well done my son!" And behind our Lord was a line waiting to greet him, at the head of which was his dear wife Dorothy, followed close behind by my dad whom Bob affectionately referred to as "brother Nate" and mom and all of the rest of the family and friends who have proceeded him.
RMG- you are missed, but per your instructions we will rejoyce.

My dad always spoke so fondly of Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Bob. I am so saddened to hear of his passing; but I see them all together smiling and watching our little ones grow.
