Robert Smith Obituary

Robert Lee (Bob) Smith died November 15 in his 85th year. Inventor, TV producer and host, manager of the Hyatt House Hotel, restaurants, and Computer Image Corporation, his main interest was helping the underprivileged. He organized large annual Christmas parties in South-Central and East L.A for up to 22,000 children and created job-training programs. In 1969 he met his life mate and partner, Genevieve Marcus. Together they formed Experimental Cities, Inc. a nonprofit organization to seek positive approaches to social and environmental problems. In 1984, they ran for Co-Governors of California on the premise that in a democracy, elected offices should represent both men and women.
