Rose Parker Dies At Age 95

Rose Parker died on March 30, 2009 at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after a very short illness.
Rose was born Rose Kovner within minutes of her twin, Lillian, on September 5, 1913 in Bayonne, New Jersey to Millie and Marx Kovner. The family moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles in 1923.
Rose had many jobs, but the most meaningful was working alongside her husband, Dr. Joseph Parker, learning medicine from him. She was proud of her medical experience and offered her loved ones the wisdom of her combined knowledge and intuition, and she was always right. She joked that her degree was "N.D." which meant "no degree." Everyone agrees she should have had an honorary M.D.
She lived in many parts of Los Angeles county including Silverlake, Ladera Heights and Beverly Hills. She was intensely interested in politics and was as passionate a Republican in her younger years as she was a Democrat at the end. She had strong opinions and hope for the country when President Obama was elected.
She is survived by her companion of more than forty years, David Konigsberg of Beverly Hills, her brother Dr. Leonard (Elaine) Kovner of Tarzana, her son Joey (Jackie) of Park City, Utah, her two granddaughters Melissa Galeano of Park City and Laura Kovner of Marina Del Rey, her great-nephew Damien Kovner of Mission Beach, nephew Victor Lee (Donna) Kovner and her two beloved great-grandchildren Francesca and Luca Galeano of Park City, in addition to cousins and an unlimited number of friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Joseph Parker, her older brother, Dr. Victor (Hilda) Kovner, her twin sister Lillian Meek, her niece Patricia Haight.
Rose felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her son Joey, and working alongside him in their real estate business. She lived to enjoy him and his children and grandchildren. There was love left for other relatives and endless friends, and she created a life where she could count on the kindness of those who loved her during her final days.
There was never a person or an animal in need who did not receive Rose's intense attention and help. Her dogs included Pom Pom, Lucky and B.J. the cats were Lily, Rosie and Mama. Although she protested that she didn't want any more pets, she is survived by her cat Goldie who misses her deeply.
There will be no service and interment will be private. To honor Rose's memory, the family suggests making a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
We thought she would last forever. May her sweet soul rest in peace.

I had the opportunity of meeting Ms parker years ago as her insurance agent. I would visit her every year for many years. She was the most kind and graciously giving. I remember her ming dynasty chairs and the wonderful opportunity to have met her father at his age of 104. God bless this woman
