Rosemary Tucker Obituary

Tucker, Rosemary
January 10, 1924 - March 20, 2011
Rosemary Tucker, of Fallbrook, CA passed away early Sunday morning, March 20th, with her family by her side. She was 87 years old. She had given so much to others throughout her life, that her body did not have enough energy and strength to fight off a virus at the end of her life.

Rosemary was born on January 10, 1924 in Butler, PA. She served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. At the end of the war, she was stationed at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA. While there, she met Don Tucker, and they were married in 1945. Six children followed: Tom, John, Terry, Mary, Jim, and Jeanie. In 1956, Don and Rosemary started Tucker Tire Company in Covina, CA. In 1965, her life changed dramatically when she became the sole owner of Tucker Tire.

She was awarded many special honors while she ran Tucker Tire with her three sons. She was chosen Small Business Person of the year in California in 1978. She finished third in the nation with that honor, and President Jimmy Carter presented the award to her. She also received a Distinguished Service Award for helping start the first hospice in Covina. She also served on the the Board of Directors for Inter-Community Hospital in Covina. She was also a big part of the Covina Chamber of Commerce, and was vice-president for the Southern California Tire Dealer Association. She volunteered a lot of her time at Inter-Community Hospital to help and nurture patients as a candy striper. All of her accomplishments and achievements helped deservedly place her in the Covina Hall of Fame.

Rosemary did all of this, and more while raising 6 children who all still reside in Southern California. Tom and Jim run Tucker Tire in Covina, while John opened up another one in Laguna Niguel. Rosemary is survived by her children, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Rosemary's private memorial services will be Friday, March 25th in Fallbrook, CA. If any information is needed, please contact Tucker Tire in Covina.

Rosemary was the best Sister a Brother could have. Because I lived in Utah we didn't get to see each other all the time, but we kept in touch and saw each other when we could and it was always a wonderful time. She was a beautiful lady and she always put her family first. I will deeply miss her and I know right now she is visiting with her Mom and our Dad. Her funeral service was beautiful as was she. Rosemary I will always love you and we will see each other again. To my nieces and nephews - you had the best Mom anyone could ask for and for me I had the best Sister in the world.

My Aunt Rosemary was a remarkable and beautiful woman who had the wit and wisdom of age as well as a legacy of good deeds. My mother and she were sisters and were known as "The Campbell Girls". They were USO dancers at one point during World War II and they both embraced life with a wry humor and intense intelligence. I was fortunate enough to have visited my aunt last year and meet the "love of her life" Pete as well as seeing assorted cousins. I send all my condolences to them as well as her numerous progeny . In the past, I spoke to Aunt Rosemary frequently on the telephone and will miss that more than anyone can imagine. The conversations were always full of humor, philosophy and love. May all my love follow her!

Rosemary Tucker was a beautiful, kind & remarkable person. It was my pleasure to meet her through the Brother Benno"s thrift store. I am still a volunteer there & was always amazed at her niceness with each contact. Deepest sympathy to her remaining family, she was a wonderful gift to this world!

To all the Tucker kids, grandkids and great grandkids, I am sorry for your loss. I know that grief can be so hard to cope with but remember all the special memories you have of your mom (grandma or great grandma). I am glad I was able to share a small part of life with her.
