Roslyn Weisman Obituary

Roslyn (Roz) Edith Weisman passed away July 30th, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born May 3, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the second eldest of Leon and Pauline Loibman's four children. She graduated from Allderdice High School in 1958 and Montefiore School of Nursing in 1962. She met her husband, Sanford (Sandy) Weisman in 1962 while she was engaged to someone else. Three months after meeting, she and Sandy eloped and were married for 61 years.

They loved traveling abroad, often taking roads less traveled, notably to Russia and China in the 1980's. Roz was an avid theatre goer who delighted in big and tiny productions equally. She "dragged" her children along often, instilling in them a life-long love of theatre. She was also an avid museum goer, and made a point of taking her children and grandchildren early and often.

Notably, Roz was always quick with a hug and a witticism. Beloved for her natural warmth and inimitable sense of humor, she brought high energy wherever she went, even in the hospital - as both a nurse and a patient. Her liveliness and vitality were often reflected in her colorful, quirky, conversation-worthy jewelry, which she collected over decades and wore every day.

Roz loved socializing in any capacity. Her favorite time was that spent with her six grandchildren, hopping a plane anytime to Michigan, New York and Minnesota so she wouldn't miss any milestones. Roz also adored her many friends - and her many friends adored her. She joyfully celebrated them when they most deserved it, and loyally helped them when they most needed it. A big believer in "the more the merrier," Roz's happy place was an over-crowded dinner table. In her last years, months and weeks, her family was convinced she defied all medical prognoses because she didn't want to miss out on anything.

Roz is survived by her husband, Sandy, daughters Michelle Wood (Brian) and Jill Pflaum (Jason), six grandchildren: Emily, Trevor (Eri), Pippa, Ainsley, Antonia and Josset, in addition to her siblings, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Roz would have loved donations to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF): (203) 229-0464; https://themmrf.org/

Sandy, Jill and Michelle - Libby and I send our condolences on the loss of Roz. She was a special lady and a force of nature. I will miss bumping into her at the farmer's market or on Gretna Green. May her memory be for many blessings.

I loved Roz. We met at University Synagogue. I used to think of her as Totie Fields- she always made me laugh. Out loud. The kind where we got "in trouble!" I am sending you all condolences and peace. May her incredible memory be a blessing.
