Roxanne Stewart Obituary

April 25, 1956 - April 3, 2014 Roxanne Zimmelman Stewart, beloved wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, peacefully left this world on April 3, 2014 after a long brave battle with cancer with her devoted husband Tom by her side. Roxanne was born on April 25, 1956 in Glendale, Ca. to Stanford and Gloria Zimmelman. After her mother Gloria's passing, her father "Stan" married Mary Green Prince - always known as Chickie - who became more than a step-mother, yet a friend ¿ as did Chickie's children, Patty Prince Avnet, Mike and Dave Prince. Before moving to the Lake Tahoe area in the mid 1970s, Roxanne grew up in Panorama City in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Monroe High School in Sepulveda in 1973. Roxanne was a hair dresser extraordinaire who always made sure her clients, of which many became her close friends, looked better and had a lightness of spirit after spending time with her. Roxanne and her business partner opened Hot Locks Hair Design in South Lake Tahoe, which they successfully ran and managed for over 25 years. It was only natural that Roxanne and Tom would meet on the edge of the Lake Tahoe at the end of a boat race ¿ which was the start of their deep and loving friendship. Roxanne leaves behind her husband Tom, sister Rosanne (John) and many extended family members and friends. Roxanne was loved by many, loved to laugh and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A celebration of her life is planned for May 4, 11:30 am at The Lodge at Tahoe Donner in Truckee, CA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tahoe Forest Hospice.
