Sadie Singer Obituary

SINGER, Sadie Jean (1907-2008) Sadie, who passed away on March 28, 2008, was born to Rachel Leah and Solomon Vinarsky in Zhitomer, near Kiev in the Russian Ukraine. Her family moved to Canada in 1911 and not long afterwards, moved from there to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up in Milwaukee. She attended school and graduated from the Wisconsin College of Music as a teacher of piano. In 1928 she married Maurice L. Singer, raised her family of three sons: Sheldon, Bertram and Allan. She was active in Zionist organizations (Hadassah, The Pioneer Women). In 1971 she and Maurice moved to San Diego and in 1982 to Los Angeles. Maurice passed away in 1984. After the 1994 earthquake in the San Fernando Valley, Sadie entered the Jewish Home for the Aging where she remained until she fell victim to complications from pneumonia. She is survived by her two sons, Shlomo Sharan who lives in Israel, and Allan Singer and his wife, Linda, who reside in Valencia, CA. Her son Bertram passed away in September, 2004. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Carole Singer, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. May her soul be bound up in the realm of eternal life.
