Sandra Boxer Obituary

August 6, 1949 - July 9, 2017 Sandra Sweet Boxer, 67, of Prescott, Arizona passed away July 9, 2017-taken quickly and much too soon by pancreatic cancer. Beloved wife of Martin for 36 years; survived by siblings Barbi of Sun City West, AZ; Larry (Melissa) of Costa Mesa, CA; James (Mark) of San Diego. Nieces and nephews adored her. Born in Pomona, CA on August 6, 1949 to Anna-Jean and Richard Sweet, Sandy grew up in Newport Beach. A graduate of Newport Harbor High (1967), she studied at UCLA, Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Cal State Fullerton, and ASU (Masters). Sandy was a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner, specializing in nephrology. She helped countless patients throughout California and Arizona with dialysis and transplant. Her knowledge was matched by her patience. In retirement, Sandy loved to travel. With Marty, she visited more than 35 countries on 6 continents. She loved both tent camping and ocean cruising. And she loved Prescott, the trails and lakes, and especially the people. When she first moved there she joked, wondering if she was "nice enough to live here." Yes, Sandy, you were.

So saddened to hear of the loss of Sandy, who was a dear friend of ours for forty years. Prayers and love for her beloved husband and our dear friend Marty.

Knew Sandy from the 1970s when she worked with me at Saint Joseph Hospital, Orange in the Dialysis department. She was an extremely exquisite and trustworthy nurse, a wonderfully caring person and ultimately a great friend. She worked closely with the pediatric dialysis patients, worked with both my staff and patients in education coordination.

Remember when she returned from a river trip in reporting she'd met this incredibly wonderful "guy" which was Marty of course. Among the non-work times together, I remember my husband and I spent several holidays with Sandy and Marty, we still have on our home refrigerator the four of us enjoying time together on the Big Island of Hawaii. We also enjoyed time together in each others homes over the years.

This is a crushing personal loss for many and our hearts go out to Marty's and Sandy's families for this untimely and all to soon loss to each of our lives and hearts.

Dear Marty,
My heart goes out to you and your family and Sandy's sister and brothers and their families. Sandy became my best friend shortly after I met her in 1970. She was a true confident, always with a smile and full of warmth and caring for her family and friends. She helped so may patients over the years and lived a rewarding and full life. Sandy fell madly in love with you and was happy to be your companion and wife. I was lucky to have her as my friend and will miss her forever.

My deepest sympathy to family and friends of Sandra Boxer. As the days pass perhaps the recorded words at Iaisah 26:19 " and the earth will let those powerless in death come to life."

To the Boxer Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
