Scott Regberg Obituary

Regberg, Scott Lee
August 25, 1950 - July 30, 2010
Scott Regberg, a West Los Angeles businessman and community leader, has died. He was 59.
Regberg died Friday after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.
Since 1977, Regberg owned Regberg & Associates, an advertising and event planning agency that produced political debates broadcast on ABC, NBC and other stations. He also organized annual business and environmental conferences in Southern California drawing speakers from across the country.
Regberg's clients included the Nielsen EDI, Bank of America, Security Pacific Bank, Head shampoo, the County of Los Angeles, Department of Water and Power and the Association for Corporate Growth.
"Be brief, be brilliant, be gone," Regberg often said, according to his family.
Regberg made a mark on West Los Angeles business and community life as executive director of the Westwood Village Merchants Association, which represented 150 local businesses. He also served as president of the Crestwood Hills Homeowners Association, a neighborhood group.
Regberg was senior class president at Venice High School where he was voted "most likely to succeed," graduating in 1968. He went on to UCLA earning a history degree. In 1972, he published a book called Sweet Illusions. An avid hiker, Regberg wrote a regular column about the outdoors in the Santa Monica Mirror.
Born in Canton, Ohio on August 25, 1950, Regberg is survived by his wife Melanie Miller Regberg, son Hayden, brother Rick Regberg, and late father's wife Lee Regberg.
The funeral was held August 2, 2010, at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles.

I worked for Scott earlier in my career. Together we worked on the California State Forum and Inside Politics. Both these events helped inform my interest in politics. I´m now running for the North Carolina House of Representatives. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing. I´m delighted to hear that he got married and had a son. Kindest condolences to his family.

I worked for Scott, starting in 1979 as a senior intern and then as an account executive after graduation. So sad to hear of his passing. I left Los Angeles in 1987 and had lunch with Scott prior to his passing. I learned a lot from Scott and have always held him and his brother, Rick, in high regard. RIP

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Scott's passing. He had such a calming and rational approach in solving the issues in our neighborhood of Crestwood Hills. He truly made it a better place to live the years he was president of the homeowners association. Our thoughts are with you Melanie and Hayden. With sympathy. Greg and Joan Serrao

In 1965, I met Scott and his brother Rick at Swensen's (located at National and Barrington) where we worked as soda jerks. I remember Scott as quick witted and always fun to be around. Over the years we would run into each other. I am saddened by the loss and offer my condolences to his wife, son and family.

I knew Scott from Mark Twain Jr High and Venice High School days. Though a few years younger than I, I had a big crush on him for a time. He was, and his brother Rick is, long-time friends of mine and my late husband. Our hearts go out to you at this time and in the days ahead. May the many wonderful memories bring you comfort. I am so very sorry for the loss of Scott. He was a great younger brother to Rick (my high school sweetheart), funny, sarcastic and a pleasure to be around. Many condolescens to the Regberg family, especially his wife and young child, and of course, to his dear brother, Rick.
My wishes go out for you to remember all the good that he was.
