Shirley Eberhard Obituary

February 7, 1936 - June 19, 2013
Born Shirley Louise Pannier in Anaheim, Shirley spent her childhood helping her parents, Edna and Milton, on their orange ranch. She graduated from Anaheim HS in 1953. After graduating from Occidental College with a degree in Education in 1957, Shirley returned to Anaheim to marry Erland Eberhard. Their four children are: Laurie (1958), Craig (1959), Jeff (1961) and Brad (1969). While raising her children, Shirley taught piano lessons in her home. Starting at the age of 15, she also played the organ and piano each Sunday for over 60 years until her retirement in 2011. She also played for hundreds of weddings and memorial services throughout Orange County. Shirley also taught 1st-4th Grades in the Anaheim City School District for over 25 years until her retirement in 1998. Being retired gave her more time to enjoy her garden, travel, attend music and stage performances and spend time with her grandchildren. In 2009 Shirley was diagnosed with a brain tumor. With surgery and other treatments she was able to lead a very full life for almost 4 more years. Shirley is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and brother Loren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29 at Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church, Anaheim Hills, CA.

I was fortunate enough to teach with Shirley a few years before she retired. She was a lovely lady, endlessly gracious and generous. She was a great colleague and a good friend. My deepest sympathies to her family.

A great lady taken way too soon.

Shirley was an absolutely beautiful woman of God. My folks and I knew her during our days at Covenant Presbyterian Church (my dad and I sang in the choir). The last time I saw Shirley was when we ran into each other in the summer of 2009 at Mariners Church where I was teaching VBS. She is now together with my folks, Lee and Phyllis Davis (Mom went home to be with the Lord on 6/16/13); rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. God is good....all the time!

Love,
Debi Davis

Such a beautiful lady-inside and out. The definition of grace and dignity with a sense of humor on top of all that. So privileged to have known her and grow up with her children. Another great Anaheimer gone to the heavens. Jacquie Bighead Gunning
