Stan Flinkman Obituary

Flinkman, Stan
Born February 19, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA., Stan passed away November 15, 2005, after a brief illness, valiantly battling pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 1/2 years, Ruth Elaine, children, Lewis Flinkman, Linda Flinkman (Marty Humphreys) Michael Flinkman (Penny), Russell Flinkman (Marta Jevenois) Daughter-in-law, Gina Oken, Grandchildren, Arielle Flinkman, Noah Flinkman, and Hannah Flinkman, many friends and relatives who loved and admired him for his thoughtfulness, caring and sense of humor. After graduating Santa Monica High School in 1942. Stan attended UCLA and Loyola Law School after serving 3 1/2 years in the army Air Corps. Stationed in the South Pacific in World War II. He practiced law in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica for 50 years, and developed residential and commercial properties during that time. He was a member of the State Bar Association, Santa Monica-Westside Board of Realtors. He was a founder of American Friends of Hebrew University, Hadassah Hospital in Israel, American Associates of Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel, and a member for over 50 years of the Masonic Order, Shrine Club, and Scottish Rite Temple. For the past twenty years. Stan sculpted and had his work shown at the Williamson Gallery of Scripps College, which has some of his pieces in their permanent collection, and at Orange County Museum of Art. His sculptures are a fitting remembrance of his witty sense of humor. He was an avid photographer/videographer. He will be sorely missed but will live on in our hearts.
