Stanley Greitzer Obituary
October 10, 1934 - July 22, 2021 Stanley Greitzer lived every day of his magnificent life with a smile on his face. Throughout his career, he built a business empire, and with the love of his life, Trena, he created a family that will love and miss him dearly.Stanley was born on October 10th, 1934 in Brooklyn to Sam and Tillie Greitzer. His father, a candy salesman, supported Stanley and his loving sister, Carole, as they spent their early years in Coney Island's Sea Gate neighborhood. With an optimistic aspiration for change, Stanley's parents packed up the young family and headed west for a new life in Los Angeles. At Los Angeles High School, Stanley developed his work ethic, knack for numbers, athletic prowess, and quick wit. He was an accomplished basketball player and track runner, which led the way for his studies at UCLA. On the steps outside UCLA's Royce Hall, on a spring day in 1955, Stanley met by chance the woman with whom he'd spend the rest of his life, Trena Bayer. Born into a large, LA-based Jewish family herself, Trena immediately fell in love with Stanley as well. Within a year, Trena and Stanley were married.Together with Trena, Stanley built the beginnings of a beautiful family in their son, Ron, and daughter, Bonnie. They raised their family of four in Beverly Hills, instilling in Ron and Bonnie their passions of life, a commitment to hard work, and proud support of the Jewish community.Stanley's career, beginning with bagging groceries in high school, culminated as the CEO of Reliance, one of his father-in-law's companies. He became a business leader, a government policymaker, and an innovator in his industry, as well as a passionate and active member of the global Young Presidents' Organization. Additionally, he founded in partnership with his son the Los Angeles Fiber Company. Stanley supported numerous and tremendous philanthropic efforts on behalf of organizations including the Jewish Federation, the Jewish Home for the Ageing, and Children's Hospital.Of all his adventures, his favorite was that of being a Grandfather to his five grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He instilled the importance of education and the very passions for community, travel, skiing, and family that characterized his own life.As a testament to his dedication to family, just two weeks before his 2.5-year-long battle with cancer came to a close, Stanley miracuously mustered the strength to travel to his eldest granddaughter's wedding in Oregon on July 3rd, sharing with his family once more the gentle strength and warm smile he carried throughout his life.Stanley is survived by close communities of friends from Anchor Avenue, Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, Mammoth Mountain, Tamarisk Country Club, and Hillcrest Country Club, where he will miss his beloved cards and golf amigos; his sister Carole Katz and her family; his sister-in-law Loraine Sinskey, her family, and the extended Bayer family; his son Ron, daughter-in-law Carolyn, and grandchildren Lawrence Steven, Adam, and Marissa Greitzer; his daughter Bonnie, son-in-law Jonathan, and grandchildren Aaron Barg, Ashley, and her husband Elliot Bachaumard; and, most importantly, his beloved wife and partner in life of 65 years, Trena. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the following organizations: Skirball Hospice, a Program of the Los Angeles Jewish Home, and UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology.
