Trena Greitzer Obituary

January 14, 1938 - January 5, 2025 Trena Sharon Greitzer, a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and philanthropist, passed away a week shy of her 87th birthday, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Trena was born on January 14, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to businessman Jack and Ida Bayer, both of whom immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. Trena grew up in Beverly Hills and attended Beverly Hills High School. She later enrolled at UCLA to study Art History. It was there, on the steps outside of Royce Hall on a spring day in 1955, that she met the love of her life, Stanley Greitzer.
Trena and Stanley married in Los Angeles in 1956. Together, they raised their two children, Ron and Bonnie, instilling a commitment to hard work, strong values, a deep pride in their Jewish heritage, and a dedication to family
Trena was an active member of her community, contributing to several philanthropic causes across the Jewish community, arts, healthcare, and beyond. She served as the Chair of the Los Angeles United Jewish Fund Women's Division, a National and Executive Board Member of the United Jewish Appeal Women's Division, and a member of the Executive Board of The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles. Trena was also honored as "Woman of the Year" by the Jewish Home for the Aging, where she also sat on the Executive Board. She founded and served as President of the Hope for Hearing Service Group at UCLA, and was a Crusade Chairperson for the American Cancer Society in Beverly Hills. Additionally, Trena volunteered as a docent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for 12 years and was a Vice President and an honorary lifetime member of the Beverly Hills PTA Council.
Trena is survived by a loving network of friends from her various communities, including Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, Mammoth Mountain, Tamarisk Country Club, and Hillcrest Country Club, where she will be deeply missed by her caring friends. She is survived by her sister, Loraine Sinskey, and her family; the extended Bayer family; her sister-in-law, Carole Katz, and her family; her son, Ron, daughter-in-law, Carolyn, and grandchildren Lawrence Steven, Adam, and Marissa Greitzer; her daughter, Bonnie, son-in-law, Jonathan, grandchildren Aaron Barg, Ashley and Ashley's husband, Elliot Bachaumard, along with her great-grandchildren, Matisse and Olivier Bachaumard. The family additionally thanks Sandy and Joy for their wonderful and loving caregiving.
Trena was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley, who passed away in July 2021. She is now joyously reunited with the love of her life, her husband of 65 years, and together they will continue to watch over their family and friends.
If you would like to make a donation, the family would be honored that donations be made to the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging, an organization close to her heart. Trena's legacy of love, generosity, and community service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Tom & Judy Mitchell send our condolences from The Villages, Florida. My father Marvin Rosenberg is a first cousin to Trena. Our parents always tried to keep our family ties close. My sister Diane Glickman and her husband Morrie will represent us at the Memorial.

Trena was an intelligent, dynamic, generous, and beautiful woman. She lived a full and inspiring life. She touched our lives in very subtle and gentle ways; a lovely conversation, teaching me her favorite card game, canasta, or enjoying an elegant meal. She was warm and kind with a wonderful sense of humor and style. She will be so missed. May her memory be a blessing to her family and friends.
