Stan and I met at camp in 1947 and became friends, keeping in touch and ending up as roommates at Amherst College for three of our four years there.
After college we kept in touch, visiting back and forth.
One this close is tough to take.

Stanley and I were 1st cousins - our dads were brothers. We spent every Sunday together growing up, both of us came east to college, we always kept in touch, and as adults we took a month trip around the world together. Stan is a great loss to our entire family. He was bright, quick, and great fun to be with. He always gave me encouragement in whatever I was doing and was very excited about my editing and annotating the autobiography of our great-grandfather David Lelewer which is do off the press this month. I'm sorry he didn't live to see the published addition of the book.
