STEFAN KOVALIK Obituary

Retired U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Stefan Kovalik, 66, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Born in Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Stefan and Danuse Pokorny Kovalik. Mr. Kovalik was a retired Logistics System program manager for Logistics Management Resources.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce A. Kovalik; two daughters, Kristie A. Chung and husband, Taeksung, and Paula M. Kovalik; three sons, Mike S. Kovalik and wife, Kerri, Garrett R. Kovalik and Scott R. Kovalik and wife, Mitzie; and eight grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Fort Lee Memorial Chapel, 1901 Sisisky Boulevard, Fort Lee, Virginia 23801 with Chaplain David Kirk, celebrant. Burial of cremains will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at church.
Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675 or the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

I met Stefan in Germany in 1975. We became friends and brothers there. So sad to hear he has passed. RIP Gypsy you will be missed by many and may we meet up again on the other side.

I could not believe he passed we met in 75 traveled the world ,drank a million beers, I could trust him with anything I had. He was a Prince among men and was my friend. Joyce if there is anything I can do please let me know.
