Stephen Brixey Obituary

March 31, 1936 - December 16, 2022 Stephen S. Brixey Jr. passed away December 16th, after a brief illness. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma on March 31, 1936. The family moved to Laguna Beach when Steve was a toddler. This was his home until he went to UCLA after graduating from Laguna Beach High School. He very much enjoyed growing up in close proximity to the beach, surfing and working as a lifeguard in his teenage years.

At UCLA he joined the fraternity Phi Delta Theta and made many lasting friends. After graduating from UCLA he joined the Army as First Lieutenant and was in the Reserves for a number of years. After his six months commission, he was recruited by Bateman Eichler, Hill Richards and that started a 50 year career in the investment business as a financial advisor, but mostly in management. In 1982, he was recruited to start an office for Hambrecht & Quist. Two years later he was called back to Bateman Eichler to run the Branch system. In 1988, he joined Crowell Weedon & Co. where he stayed until his retirement in 2012. He loved his career.

He also loved golf and was a member at Annandale and Lake Arrowhead Country Club. He was an avid wine aficionado and he was a member of the Pasadena Food and Wine Society for a number of years. His choice of music would mostly have been West Coast Jazz. Steve and his wife enjoyed many trips abroad, mostly Europe, often with close friends. A life lived well!

When Steve retired in 2012 he and his wife moved to Fallbrook, North San Diego County in close proximity to the family.

Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ursula; his son Stephen III; his daughter-in-law Nicole; his four grandchildren London, Lily-Rose, Luna and Nola; his stepchildren Lars Hayes and Christina Hayes; and his brother Larry Brixey and his wife Judy. He will be very much missed by his family and friends.

Steve was a leader with wisdom to evaluate difficult situations in concise, understandable terms and to evaluate the character that is so important in investing and finance. He was a gentleman and excellent host. I enjoyed working with Steve and joining he and his wife Ursula for celebrations. We send our prayers of comfort to Ursual and the family.
