Susan Carver Obituary
May 9, 1933 - December 27, 2024 Susan Madary Carver was born on May 9th 1933 to Elizabeth Lacy and Charles Merrick Madary III in Los Angeles, California. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Susie attended University Elementary school and Marlborough school in Los Angeles. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in education, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi.
After Susie graduated from Berkeley she married the love of her life Richard Carver on September 3rd 1955 at St Albans church in Westwood. She had met him when she was just fourteen years old and she immediately knew that he was to be her future husband. She worked hard on this endeavor throughout her teens and young adult life, and felt spectacularly blessed when he said yes to her proposal.
While Rick was working on his law degree at Stanford University Susie supported them by teaching nursery school in Palo Alto. After Rick graduated they moved back to Los Angeles, where they raised their two daughters, Leslie and Linda while Rick practiced Law at Latham and Watkins.
Susie dedicated her life to her family. She was always there with an abundance of love, warmth, kindness, patience and humor. She cherished her Marlborough classmates, and the partners wives at Latham and Watkins. She was an extraordinary friend with with an empathetic ear, an infectious laugh and a huge heart. Susie's happiest days were spent in the family home in Hermosa Beach and summers in Lake Tahoe, Lake Arrowhead and Kauai where she was surrounded by family and close friends. She loved playing tennis at the Riviera Country Club and beach days at the Bel Air Bay Club. She was a member of the Junior League and enjoyed being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader at her daughters' schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Carver and her brother Charles Madary. She is survived by her daughters Leslie Haight (Philip) and Linda Gallucci (James); grandchildren Matthew Haight, Dena Gallucci (Christopher) and Lissa Sinnott (Jonathan); great grandchildren Owen and Lily Sinnott and sister Elizabeth Sutton.
Susie passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Santa Barbara, California. She will forever be in the memories of those who knew and loved her.
A private family service will be held in Santa Barbara.
