Miss. Rousseve! What a gift to the education world and humanity. Miss Rousseve was my 11th grade English teacher at Loyola High School back in the 80s. She was without a doubt one of my favorite teachers at Loyola and of all time. While English was never my best or favorite subject (which Miss Rousseve clearly knew), she always made it interesting. I always looked forward to going to school when I knew I had Miss Rousseve that day. In addition, Miss Rousseve was simply a kind and wonderful human being who always listened to her students, found the best in us and accepted us for who we are. We stayed in touch for years after graduation and when I became a teacher (although high school math) we had that teacher bond connection. I was even allowed to call her Sylvia! We got together a couple of times for dinner and even played Scrabble (which she always beat me at). I miss my friend Sylvia very much, however her 88 years on earth touched many lives and her kindness, acceptance, and academic drive (not to mention many other qualities) are lessons I will always remember. I am truly grateful for the chance to have known Sylvia. An interesting note. Right before I wrote this a "random" picture of London's House of Parliament and Big Ben appeared on the computer screen. No doubt this was the work of Miss Rousseve. Rest in peace Sylvia Rousseve. You will be missed.

She was a fantastic teacher that brought Shakespeare to life in the classroom. I still remember her passion and love for teaching at LHS. May she rest in peace!

1981...as a Sophomore at St Bernard HS...she was a bit intimidating. But her passion & fairness came through loud & clear. She would read us passages from Shakespeare & you could just feel her love for it. This little trip down memory lane has brought a huge smile to my face. God Speed Ms. Rousseve You never know whose lives you touch.
