It is rare that one might write a memory of a person they never met in person. I was fortunate enough to correspond with Tim a bit as I rediscovered family. I had met his wife many years before. To a person, I never heard an ill word for Tim, his wife Elizabeth and the family they nurtured. The world is always in need of great people and it is clear that Tim was one of them. Rest in Peace.

Tim was a close friend of my brother, Tom Flynn, also a grad of Loyola High. When very young, I saw Tim at our home in Toluca Lake. My parents loved him. I remember Tim as a gentleman, very kind and attentive, a great twinkle in his eye. Prayers in thanksgiving,

Dear Julie and Margaret Ann,
You won't remember me, but I baby-sat the two of you for about two years back in the late 1960's when I was a UCLA student and you were toddlers, and I remember you and your mother and father very affectionately. I was so sorry to see in the L.A. Times that your father passed away. Your parents were both extremely kind and generous to me in fact, your dad actually came to drive me home when I was stranded at LAX at Thanksgiving one year, which was a nightmare of gridlocked traffic for hours, and that was no small sacrifice on his part.
So please accept my deepest sympathy, and I hope it comforts you a little to know that even after so many years, your father's thoughtfulness and consideration have never been forgotten.
Sincerely,

Working with Tim for Mission Doctors for so many years has been a great blessing. I remember when he traveled to Ghana to visit the Mission Doctors serving there, I remember his quiet strength and faith, his kindness, and genuine compassion for others. The love he had for his family, for Elizabeth and the pride he rightly had for their children. You will always be a part of Mission Doctors, Tim. May we live up to your memory.
