Dear Tom,

Well, you and I the JookSing, that we founded the Southern California Council of
Chinese Schools and the number of school has now grown into more than one hundred from thirdteen with a student enrolment of over 20,000 from 2,000. . You were the first term president and served you and the council as secretary and treasurer. And I followed your footstep and became the president the following year. Your term 76-77 and mine 77-78 if I remember correctly.

Remember the fishing trip to Lake Crowley? You, Pat Wong, my uncle and I in your in your station wagon, well equipped with cooking equipment braved the cold for the adventure.....we were young!. It was so rly cold, the steaks got frozen the moment that it left from the grill. How many trout we caught.....zilch. But we had great time.

The annual treat you give to celebrate the birth day of Pat Wong, my uncle with
many of your friends will continue in spirit from now on. Thank you.

It was with great sadness that we learned of Uncle Tom's passing. A life-long friend of my father and mother and a kindhearted and generous uncle to myself and my own wife and daughter. He will be sorely missed, but we console ourselves, perhaps selfishly, with fond memories of his lively spirit, endearing laugh, and mischievous smile. Uncle Tom never liked to say good-bye to us upon parting, so in that spirit, we would like to say, "Uncle Tom, until we eat again!" We are sure that there is dim sum in heaven.

To Aunt Judy, Judiann, Melanda, and Becky:
Emiko, Hannah, and I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences. Although we are separated by an ocean, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

With Deepest Sympathy,
Jay, Emiko, and Hannah Wong

I close my eyes and i start to remember... it's a sunny day and I am walking to lunch with my dad in LA Chinatown. We open the door and there is Tom with his beaming grin and hearty laugh inviting us over to join him. It was always fun to share a bowl of soup noodles with Tom. So humble, so friendly, so down to earth.... so much fun

I had the great pleasure of meeting Tom back in 1965 or 1966. We both worked at an engineering firm, I believe it was Woody Tom. After leaving the firm we kept in touch as I assisted him in some of his projects. Tom loved to eat and used to invite me to eat at different places when we met for a project. I remember his excitement when we invited him to eat at The Grove and we rode the electric car (street car) inside The Grove. I miss Tom, his laugh and his humor, but his memory will be always with me. He leaves a beautiful family, his wife Judy with whom I played chess on many occasions and daughters, sons in law and grandchildren. He was blessed, he had a good life.
