Vladimir Dvornychenko Obituary

July 30, 1941 - January 23, 2024 Vladimir Nikolaivich Dvornychenko passed away January 23, 2024. He was 82. He was born in Kiev, Ukraine July 30, 1941 and emigrated from Europe at age 10, with his mother and sister.
He spent most of his life in the Los Angeles area, graduating from Belmont High School in Los Angeles in 1959. He graduated from California Polytechnic Institute with a physics degree. He also earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from University of Wisconsin in Madison. Fluent in four languages including Russian, Ukrainian, and German, he also was an advanced chess player.
His career included positions at Jet Propulsion Laboratory and in defense contracting and aerospace engineering at TRW and later Northrop Grumman, working on stealth technology and developing solid rocket fuel formula for Goddard Institute.
In 1994, he moved to Rockville, Maryland and worked in positions at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and National Institute of Standards and Technology. After his retirement, he returned to Los Angeles in 2018.
He is survived by his wife Georgia of 55 years and daughter Lisa. He also is survived by stepdaughters Anita Seline and Monica Allen, niece Margaret Wierbilis, and members of an extended family. He is predeceased by his mother Lucial (Sakovich) Werdi, father Nikolai Dvornychenko, sister Tanya Wierbilis, nephew John Wierbilis, grandniece Heather, and stepfather Nick Werdi.
He will be interred at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles at a graveside ceremony March 10, 2024 at 1 pm.

The most humble, humane, and intellectual man I ever met in my life. I am blessed that the spirit of my uncle Vladimir illuminated me with wisdom and faith.

I worked at Northrop in Anaheim, CA in the 1980s. I was new in my career and a fish out of water around older and more experienced employees. Vladimir was always kind to me.
