Wally's name is always on pop-up people's lips because of his immense contribution to the genre. He was gentle and generous. Here he is with paper engineer Titan, Robert Sabuda, at the Movable Book Society's conference in Milwaukee, WI in 2002.

I was sorry to read in the WSJ of Wally's passing. My condolences to Pat, Kim, and Jamie. Wally was the iconographic can do entrepreneur. In 1982-85, we worked together designing and selling pop up games and playsets to the toy companies Milton Bradley, Parker Bros, etc. It was an unforgettable experience traveling and selling with Wally, staff, and family. My best regards,
John Railing

My sincere condolences to Pat Hunt, and to Kim, Jamie and Marsha. I had the good fortune to meet Wally at ICI in 1989 and to make the trip to Bologna in 1990 just to see his exhibit of pop-ups and volvelles. He was always gracious to me and assisted in my research of the books. He was a true visionary and made the world better because of his genius of producing pop-ups.
He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Hunts in this time of hardship. Thanks in large part to Waldo Hunt's passion for pop-up books, I was able to grow up among and appreciate movable books before creating my own. His achievements will always be remembered.

Dear Pat, Kim, Jamie, and Marsha,
I was saddened to hear the news of Wally's passing.
I had the distinct opportunity to meet Wally recently and was amazed by the books. I remember the need to replace the battery in the Bird book because he was showing it to all.
He spoke of you all with dear, dear thoughts and a tear or two during my visit. I know he loved you all very much. His pride of your accomplishments was quite touching.
He will be missed by many but will live on through his work.
My sincerest condolences,
Penelope L. Goss "Penny"

To the Hunt Family,
I've always considered Wally the Forefather of Pop-ups. It was his vision, energy, and creativity that brought this wonderful genre of books back into the 20th century and secured it there for all time. He was always generous and gracious. His mark on pop-up publishing will be for the ages, and his name will "Pop-up" whenever the conversation turns to pop-up and movable books.
Thank you all for sharing him with us. My sincerest condolences on the loss of a man who will be greatly missed,
