William Flatley Obituary

Flatley, William J.
Died Friday, July 4, 2003 at Veteran's Hospital in Westwood from heart failure. Born February 23, 1927 in Los Angeles. Mr. Flatley spent most of his life here, and he had a wide circle of friends, some friendships dating back to grammar school and high school. Later to his years of U.C.L.A., Mr. Flatley majored in theatre arts and received his degree from U.C.L.A. Many more friendships were developed during his years working theatre productions. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Flatley taught college courses at El Camino College early in his career. He loved the theatre and appeared in numerous T.V. productions, plays, and movies. In later years he also devoted his time to Real Estate management. Mr. Flatley is survived by his sister, Kathleen Flatley Connaughton, and nephews, Thomas and Joseph Connaughton, Jr. of Riverside, California, Michael and William Carter of San Diego and Maui, Hawaii respectfully. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 11, at McCormick Mortuary Chapel in Inglewood. Viewing will be from 5 PM to 9 PM on Friday at the same location. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of the Risen Christ in the mausoleum of Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA burial will be after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to Motion Picture & Television Fund, 22213 Ventura Blvd., Suite 300, Woodland Hills, CA 91364. McCormick Mortuary (310)677-7101.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Bill's family and friends. We only knew him for a short time, but he was a good friend as well as being a kind landlord to our daughter.
