William Mohr Obituary

Mohr, William Warren
November 27, 1942 - December 2, 2010
William Warren Mohr, 68, devoted son of Jean Biscailuz Mohr and Colonel William Henry Mohr, grandson of former Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz and former Santa Monica Fire Chief William Mohr, loving brother, wonderful uncle and devoted friend, died in his sleep on December 2, 2010 in Santa Monica.

Bill was born in Monterey, CA. on November 27, 1942 and lived his entire life in Santa Monica. He graduated from SMHS in 1961, attended SMCC, SJSU and graduated from USC with a BS in Business in1966. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. As a young man, he managed Mom's in Westwood and then became the proud owner of the Attic Night Club in Marina Del Rey. Then for more than 30 years he was a top salesman for AAA before retiring in 2004.

Bill, known to his nephew and nieces as "Uncle Boogie" and to his lifelong friends as "The Bear", is survived by his sister Joan Mohr Johnston, brother-in-law Lee Johnston, nephew Lee, Jr., nieces Katherine and Christine, 2 grand nieces, Reagan and Kendall Johnston and Aunt Darlyne Mohr Holliday. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded in death by his aunt Carol Biscauluz Donovan, and uncles Warren Biscailuz, Robert Holliday and General Phil Donovan.

Bill loved to travel, was a sports enthusiast, and had a personality that was bigger than life, but was also a quiet sensitive person. Besides the important relationships he had with his family and friends, his real love was the beach where he always found peace and renewal.

Bill's family will hold a private memorial service on December 13. This will be followed by a celebration of his life in the New Year with family and friends. The time and location will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, a new bench will be dedicated in Bill's name near the Santa Monica beach.

My dear friend Billy Bear, In 1968 you changed my life when you allowed me to be in yours. Over the 42 years we laughed and cried together, grew together, traveled together, and shared countless memories. You lived a life of selflessness. Your many friends always came first. May we all learn from your unselfishness and love of others. I learned much from you, especially as it related to the ways you loved and cared for your mother, father and uncle Warren.
I love your Billy Mohr!

Bill Mohr was one of the best people that I ever met. Although I did not see him for the last few years, I will always remember his smile and great attitude toward life.

Oh those days at the Attic and Mom's. God Bless you Billy.
