He was my football coach at St. Bernard High School. He helped shaped me to the man I am today, as I was the football team captain. I am shocked and sadden by his passing. RIP coach - Todd West Class of 84 - St. Bernard HS

Had the opportunity to know and work with Bill while we were students at LMU along with our friend Terry Runzler, and sports information director Barry Zepel.
We all worked together on getting LMU basketball on local cable TV back at the start of the great basketball era at LMU in the 1980s.
Bill had an amazing on air style that combined excellent voice, outstanding broadcasting skills and with a special relaxed and enjoyable style.
His deadpan dry wit and humor always kept you guessing and laughing.
We are also proud of Bill`s amazing success in his long broadcasting career. He earned it. He worked hard. We all often wonder how good this amazingly talented man would´ve been if he had you stayed in football or baseball coaching or into the movie industry as an actor. .... or in his love horse racing .In each of these cases, he was very successful. But, broadcasting aside sounds like his greatest success was as a family man with his wife and children. There´s no better gauge of character in a man´s life when he has his family at the top of his priority list.
I understand he fought as valiant battle against cancer and did it in a humble, non-self-serving manner.
A truly class act.
May God bless him and especially his beautiful family.
Mario Palladini, Terry Runzler, Barry Zepel.... and hundreds of others.

I first met Bill at LMU when he was the voice of the Lions. Then, many years later he became a colleague as he returned to his Alma Mater, Notre Dame High School, to teach. He was a tremendously nice guy and well-liked by all.
