Duane Hauge Obituary
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Duane Hauge.
Duane Fredric Hauge was given life by his creator and was born on January 15, 1945, the child of George Hauge and Thelma Egeland. On April 9, 1945, he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On May 17, 1959, he publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed. He received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. On October 20, 1967, he received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse, Peggy Gottlob. They were married in Spearfish, South Dakota, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. They were blessed with the gift of two daughters, Robin and Elena. He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren, Morgan, Paul, Carson, and Cameron.
God blessed Duane's life with many special people as he served God in his vocations at home, church, work, and in the community. He proudly served as an Elder at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church for about 40 years, guiding his family and congregation in the truth of Jesus through his actions and support. Duane made a career in the broadcasting industry, working for KPRK, KFYR, KOYN, Y.93, KTVQ, and Mojo. He developed close friendships with many of his coworkers, who remained cherished friends.
Finally, on August 11, 2025, God blessed Duane with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. Family and friends remember Duane as a humble, kind, and selfless man with a wonderful sense of humor and a strong faith.
Duane is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Jim O'Neil and Elena and Shawn Hackmann; his grandchildren, Morgan Corcoran (Sean), Paul O'Neil, Carson and Cameron Hackmann; his big brother, Roger, his younger sisters, Jean and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. Duane is preceded in death by his parents and other close family members.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother Duane.
Funeral service was held on August 14, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Laurel, MT. Interment took place at Laurel City Cemetery.
