Carolyn Cribb Obituary

LAURINBURG — In Loving Memory of Carolyn Adams Cribb

Carolyn Adams Cribb, 85, of Laurinburg, passed away peacefully on Aug. 11, 2025, surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Scotland County, Carolyn was born to the late James Paul Adams Sr. and Ruby Dover Adams and spent her life in the close-knit communities of Laurel Hill and Laurinburg.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Leroy Cribb, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter and adventures. Carolyn found joy in the simple pleasures — tending her garden, baking for family and friends, and keeping Leroy "on the go."

Those who knew Carolyn would say she had a strong spirit and was a bit unfiltered — but those were her most endearing traits. Her sometimes not-so-subtle opinions will be missed by many. If you were fortunate enough to know her, you would agree, laugh, and say to yourself, "That's Carolyn!"

Carolyn is survived by her children, Dean Cribb (Jill) and Sharon Phelan (Chris); grandchildren, Paige Woodham (Dereck), Rob Cribb (Chloe), Caroline Phelan and Ashlynne Phelan; and great-grandchildren, Monroe Woodham, Hadley Woodham and Tatum Cribb. She also leaves behind her siblings, James Adams Jr. (Barbara), Glenn Adams (Sally), David Adams (Mary Jo), Richard Adams (Kitty) and Susie Harris (Phil), along with many nieces and nephews she dearly loved. Alongside her family, Carolyn treasured the companionship of her beloved dog, Charlie.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived authentically will continue in the hearts of all who knew her, including the numerous friends whose lives she touched. Carolyn meant so much to so many, and will be remembered as a Mama, a Grandma, and even a second Mama to some.

A service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church in Laurinburg, on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at 2 p.m. Following the service, friends and family are invited for a visitation at the church. The family has decided not to hold a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church of Laurinburg, NC (Building Fund), in honor of Carolyn's memory.
