Charles Smith Obituary

LEWISVILLE, Texas — Charles Dean Smith, 57, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away August 20, 2016 while working at the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Lewisville.

Charles was a true Southern gentleman. He always held his wife's hand while walking and opened her door. The only exception was when he greeted his granddaughter; he had to get her first. Charles cherished life and his love for Jesus; his adventures in the Navy; ministering in the prisons; the wind in his face; talks with his brothers; Pool time; South Carolina Beach; Carolina Pulled Pork; raw oysters; dressing in black and chrome; range time; intellectual conversations and all animals. But most of all, Charles cherished spending time with his family whom he loved with all of his heart.

Charles is survived by his wife, Glenda of Lewisville; children, Rachel Wolfard (husband, Nick), Arthur (Andy) Ward (wife, Jennifer); granddaughter, Illa Ward and countless brothers and sisters, here, there, or in the air.

Charles is also survived by his mother, Peggy Smith, Wagram; Aunt, Connie Raber, Laurinburg; Aunt, Betty Stanley, Wilmington; Uncle, Johnnie Mattox, Florence, SC; Cousin, Vickie Ramsey, Fayetteville; Cousin, Sheila Sherill, Middletown, Maryland and many others.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Smith, Wagram. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and knew him.

A memorial celebration of Charles' life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 12:15 p.m. following the worship service at Shiloh Church, 6500 Cross Timbers Road in Flower Mound, Texas 75022.

A memorial celebration is also planned for Saturday, Sept. 3, at 4 p.m. at His Laboring Few Harvest Camp, 1346 Wischum Way, Trinity, NC 27370. A memorial celebration will also be held on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 160 Clemmer Rd in Rockingham. The family will receive visitors at 3:15 p.m. prior to the start of the service.

In lieu of flowers, Charles' family asks that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.org
