Gene Monroe Hasty

LAURINBURG — Gene Monroe Hasty, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Morrison Manor.

A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Hillside Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Shelley Dial. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home's Facebook page. Due to Covid-19, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing while attending the service.

Born March 29, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Shelton Monroe and Vera Wofford Hasty. After serving in the US Air Force, he worked many years as a bus driver for Greyhound. He enjoyed golf, reading, watching sports on TV, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Paula Ingram Hasty of the home; daughter, Shelly Hasty Langdon (Mitchell) of Laurinburg; two sons, Chip Hasty of Charleston, SC, and Scott Hasty (Becky) of Rock Hill, SC; brother, Cecil Hasty (Misty) of Rockledge, FL; and grandchildren, Dakota Hasty, Graysen Hasty, and Candace Hasty Edwards. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Hasty.
