John Locklear Obituary

LAURINBURG — Mr. John Allen Locklear, 75, entered his heavenly home on Oct. 5, 2013 at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mr. John was born on Nov. 4, 1937 in Robeson County to the late Mr. Allen Locklear and the late Mrs. Mary Anna Locklear Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife Cathy Locklear, daughter Linda Strong Clark, two sisters: Margaret Whitt and Frances Canipe, and two brothers: Roy Jr. Scott and William Locklear.

A homegoing service for Mr. John Locklear will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Heritage Funeral Home, Hardin's Chapel in Red Springs. Interment will follow in the Strong's Family Cemetery in Shannon. The Rev. Hedrick Jones and Apostle Anthony Buie will be officiating.

Mr. John leaves to cherish his loving memory three daughters: Susie Strong, of Shannon, Mary Sue Locklear of Red Springs, and Peggy Jones, of Pembroke, four sisters: Mary Jane Goins and husband James of McColl, S.C., Ella Cummings and husband Sandford of McColl, Bernice Williams of Wagram, and Pearlie Rogers and husband Tommy of Laurinburg, three brothers: James Robert Scott and wife Linda of Shannon, Frank Scott of Wagram, and Ennis Scott and wife Teressa of Florence, S.C., 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Oct. 8 from 7-9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Red Springs.
