MAXTON — Johnny Gordon Teeters, Sr., 70, of Maxton passed away on Oct. 30, 2013.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.
Johnny was born on Dec. 24, 1942 in McMinnville, Tenn., a son of the late Gordon and Eugena Teeters. He was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served with the United States Army 82nd Airborne. He was the owner and operator of Maxton Motors for 38 years. He had a passion for buying and selling cars and loved drag racing, fast cars and fishing.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife Louise Teeters, brother Quinton Teeters, and sister Betty Teeters.
Johnny is survived by his wife Jean Teeters of the home, sons Johnny G. Teeters, Jr. of Texas, Steven W. Teeters and wife Sandra of Hamlet, Kerry Downard and wife Lori of Limerick, Pa., daughters Cynthia Teeters, Julia Teeters, and Lisa Teeters all of Texas, sisters Julia Wade and Shirley Jennings both of Morrison, Tenn., 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
