LAURINBURG — Sarah Frances "Catherine" Johnson Locklear was born March 20, 1934 in Richmond County, North Carolina, one of fourteen children to the late Fred and Marie Jackson Johnson.
She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Douglas Locklear, Jr. She was a wonderful homemaker, farmer and worked many years in textiles. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, photography, and especially sharing time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter. She faithfully served many years in the Church of God of Prophecy as a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Catherine passed away at the age of 87 on September 30, 2021. She will truly be missed and cherished as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sons-in-law, Edward Walters, Jr., and Kenneth Nelson Smith, Jr.; her siblings, Hughie Clyde Johnson, Henry Johnson, Beatrice Smith, Elizabeth Glover, Mamie Lee Jackson, Jean Eudy, Jimmy Johnson, Ernest Johnson, and Frankie Johnson.
She leaves behind her children, sons, James "Jamie" Douglas Locklear (Darla) of Norwood, Mark Lee Locklear (Janice) of Norwood, Johnny Ray Locklear of Albemarle, and her daughter, Sara Locklear Smith of Laurinburg; a brother, Michael Anthony Johnson; and sisters, Lula Mae Shephard (Tommy), Katie Thompson (Mack), Diane Clark (Ronald); ten grandchildren, Wanda Gail Locklear, James Stephen Locklear (Stacey), James Douglas Locklear, Jr., Sarah Pugsley (Justin), Chris Locklear (Terri), Tonya Renee Parsons (Jonathan), Autumn Dominique Locklear, Taylor Smith, Cheyanna McGuire, Cassie Jacobs (Travis); twelve great children, one great-great granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and her special care giver of many years, Onkiea Evans.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Stanly Garden of Memories, Albemarle, NC.
The family will receive friends prior to services beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
