After her 40th birthday, Barbara returned to college. She received her PhD in psychology in 1976, at the same time her eldest son graduated from high school. She worked as a therapist until this past winter, helping thousands of clients over 39 years.
Barbara loved Shirley Temple musicals, "The Sound of Music," "Gone with the Wind", and "Blue Bloods." She visited Europe, Canada and Hawaii and enjoyed frequent getaways with Paul to Carmel. It saddens me to read about dear Dr. Warner's death. She touched so many lives with her kindness and honesty. She helped me through a tough time in my life three years ago. What she taught me , I have been able to share with many others. She also spoke highly and with such love of her family. She treasured her husband and their amazing marriage/love story. She made sure I always remembered to continue to treasure my marriage, too. Know your dear Barbara made a huge difference in so many people's lives. Thank you for sharing her. It was an honor to know her. May she rest in peace. Sandra and Martin Muth

Dear Paul and family,
So sorry to miss Barbara's Celebration of Life but my cousin, Pamela Thames gave me a wonderful update of it this afternoon. Gary and family doing your theatrical part was delightful, Pamela said.
Our Dinghy Group will miss her deeply, always so full of life, laughter, helpful with her expertise on life as needed, truly a marvelous lady, she will be missed! We will think of her when we meet at Mini's as she always ordered her hot chocolate, lots of whip cream!
Thoughts and prayers are with you.

For Barbara and especially for the family that remains:
May what you stand for and those you love always feel loved.
May your teachings stay with those you nurtured. And may the memories you all shared glow in your thoughts, keeping everyone comforted and safe in the days ahead

Deepest sympathy, Gary. Your mom sounds like she was a wonderful woman. I wish I could join you for her Memorial Service, but unfortunately cannot. I hope your happy memories of your mom help to sustain you through these difficult times. I'm sure you were a good son and she was proud of you and your family. So sorry. Tonnie

I was privileged to be a colleague and friend of Barbara's when I practiced in Long Beach--what a fun, lovely, caring, human being and therapist. She has left quite a legacy.
