Dwayne Osborne Larson Jr.

Dwayne Osborne Larson passed away on November 6, 2023, the result of the cardiac arrest he experienced several weeks earlier. Dwayne was born in Long Beach and grew up in Wilmington. He graduated from Phineas Banning High School and Long Beach State, BA and MA, and membership in Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He spent 30+ years as an educator and a school psychologist, primarily in the Palos Verdes Unified and Irvine Unified School Districts. Dwayne spent his adult life living in Long Beach, where he was active in the YMCA, Long Beach Youth Home Boosters, California Retired Teachers Assoc. and others. He loved his family, travel, dining out, reading, music and theatre. He often said, "I'm the luckiest man in the world."Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, Dwayne Sr. and Joan; stepmother, Lyda; stepfather, Doug Miner; brother, Mel and sister, Marie. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen; sons, Brent (Brooke) and Matthew (Allison); his grandchildren, Eric and Grace and siblings, Lee Larson (Corrine), Mark Miner (Cheryle}, Greg Miner (Loren) Mike Miner along with many cherished nieces and nephews.You may remember Dwayne by donating to YMCA of Greater Long Beach, Attn: In Memory of Dwayne Larson (please note designation to YMCA Camp Oakes or Los Altos Family YMCA), 3605 Long Beach Blvd. Suite 210, Long Beach, CA 90807A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Grace First Presbyterian Church, 3955 N.
