In Loving Memory of a. True Cowboy Robert “Bob” Buell

In Loving Memory of a. True Cowboy Robert “Bob” Buell obituary, Long Beach, CA

In Buell Obituary

We remember the life and legacy of a remarkable individual, a true Cerritos cowboy who has left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known Robert "Bob" Buell. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Bob whose adventurous spirit, unwavering determination, and love for the equine community, one of the first establishing members at the Elks Lodge, cared deeply for his community of Cerritos as the city helped define his extraordinary journey. Our beloved cowboy grew up amidst the sweeping orange groves of Cerritos, Norwalk, Lakewood, and the Long Beach areas where the untamed wild called to him from an early age. With a lasso in hand, and a cowboy hat atop his head, he embarked on a lifelong passion for the cowboy way of life, but in the city. From building a business for over 60 years in the heart of Cerritos, California with his wife of 75 years, "Mary Dee" Buell; they persevered through it all. He helped run a successful heavy machinery construction business and moonlighted to hand-build each stall that currently stands at the B & B Stables. Bob had a true love for all things cowboy including his exceptional riding skills, horse whispering, breaking, showing Arabians and breeding horses. Through his illustrious life, his equine business name became synonymous with excellence. He fearlessly tames the wildest of them, rode hard each time no matter what and gained the trust of every stallion and human alike. It is his humility and respect for the animals that truly set him apart from the rest. Beyond the trail, our cowboy's heart overflowed with love for his wife and two sons, Bruce and Kevin. He often lent a hand to those in need embodying the true cowboy values of honor, loyalty, and integrity. From mentoring a new horse owner, to bringing his own show horses to Scottsdale for the National Arabian Show, he was able to give back at charitable events at the Performing Arts Center without hesitation for that was the city that has continued to support him through his journey at B & B. While our hearts ache with our final goodbyes, we are finding solace in knowing that our cowboy's spirit will always live forever on the trails galloping alongside the wildest horses. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of cowboys and cowgirls, reminding us all to pursue our dreams with unwavering determination and resilience to cherish the land that nurtures us. As we bid our final farewell, we will finally honor the life he lived and all of the trails he blazed and the countless lives he touched. May his memory be etched in our hearts and may his spirit forever ride on, guiding us through life's greatest challenges just as he did with grace and strength while embracing the true cowboy spirit. My, how the years have flown! I'm so very sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I knew Bob and Mary from the Arabian horse community. My deepest sympathy and best wishes to Mary and the family.

Much love to Grandma (GiGi) and my Dad, Kevin Buell as they navigate through this surreal moment in life. I´ll miss Papas singing and how he always had something exciting to share about the infrastructure of Lakewood and Cerritos (and surrounding areas), tales of his being on the Planning Commission with Cerritos, working with Bruce Barrows, Don Knabe, and the menagerie of talent at the Performing Arts Center. Papa worked with the National Arabian Association and tossed his hat in the arena each year for two years to volunteer. Papa always did "it" his way and I just will always love him for teaching me how to stand tall. Keep riding dear Papa! Happy trails!
