Kenneth Martin Sample

Kenneth Martin Sample passed away on February 15, 2012. He was born in San Diego on December 15, 1937 to Mary and Kenneth E. Sample. He was a brother to Walter Sample and Birgid Perez, both whom preceded him in death. He was a proud alumnus of Grossmont High School. Kenneth enlisted in the Air Force at seventeen and graduated from San Diego State University. He soon met his wife, Carole and started a family. In 1963, they moved to Long Beach. Ken had a life-long affiliation with Shell Oil Company and worked as a sales representative and wholesaler. Over the years, he went to the Eastern Sierras to camp and fish. He eventually moved to Bishop where he worked along side his son in their business. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Carole; his son, Kenneth (Julie); daughter, Karen Sample; daughter, Colleen Matlock of Burbank and granddaughters, Josie and Carly Sample; and Kelly and Lauren Matlock. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 5:30pm-8pm at Brune Mortuary, 325 W. Elm St., Bishop. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 849 Home St., Bishop. Interment to follow at East Line Cemetery.
