I just learned today of Larry's passing. He was the kindest, sweetest man I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working for. He was the best man at my wedding! Grover Dill, Scut Farkis, and the rest of the gang misses our leader. . Happy Tee times in Heaven, my friend.

I recently made a list of co-workers from Ohrbach's during the 80's and Larry was in the Top 3. He was our store manager so it was "Mr. Buchanan" to most. But he had that happy, smiling, sweet face so formalities usually went out the door. Whoever wrote the memorial (Katie?) did a wonderful fob and it is heartwarming to see that he never changed. I remember his laugh like it was yesterday. Memory Eternal to one of the good ones.

I just heard this heartbreaking news this morning and I’m in shock and filled with wonderful memories of this very, very special man. I’m filled with sadness. What a loss. One of my most cherished memories of working at Saks Fifth Avenue was the year I had the honour and privilege working as Larry’s AGMM in Phoenix. He and Katie were kind to me and helped me adjust to life in a new place. In the years following, we stayed in touch and played golf together when I visited Arizona. Larry was one of the funniest people I ever met with smart and quick wit. He had an amazing memory and would recall small details about people he knew and weave them into conversations. I loved Larry Buchanan and he will live forever in my heart and my memories.
I am so sad for the tremendous loss his family has in losing him. This is where life isn’t fair. If I ever have a one in one , I’m dedicating it to my friend Larry.

Thank you to your condolences. It is comforting to know that others share good memories of “Mr. B” I often called him that myself. We had 51 years where each of us thought “I’m the lucky one.”
Sincerely, Katie

I am so sad to hear about Larry. He was such a great guy. It brought back so many memories of our fun times together when you lived in Long Beach.
I hope your memories bring a smile to your heart and help you through these difficult times.

The Buchanans were a huge part of my childhood as they were great friends of my parents. What a bonus that Suzi was my age, and is a dear friend, still. Although I didn't know Larry as an adult, I had a secret crush on him as a kid-I mean, who wouldn't? Nice to know he got the best of both his parents and was a lovely human. Condolences to you all.

I met Larry at Hughes Junior High in 1958. I last saw him at our 55th Poly reunion. Not much changed...always upbeat and smiling. A great wit that made you wish you’d said that. Dena (Macrate) and I send our condolences to the family of a great guy.

Larry was a very caring and thoughtful friend. He visited my husband Joe and brought him a book while he was in Dignity Health rehab center in Chandler. He complained if a stomach pain while visiting Joe. That was the first symptoms of Larry's cancer. We will certainly remember his kindness and thoughtful nature!
