Norma Sheely Obituary

Norma Lee Braman Sheely

April 10, 1921 – March 2, 2016

Norma 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away, peacefully, with her family at her side on March 2, 2016, at Long Beach Community Hospital from complications of pneumonia. She was born in La Jolla, CA to Gillis and Myrtle Bennett, and grew up in Ojai, CA before moving to Long Beach to work in the Naval Ship Yard in 1942. Norma married Arthur (Art) W. Braman Sr. in 1944 and had a son and a daughter. They really enjoyed many years of family vacations camping and fishing with family and friends. After Arthur's passing in 1966, Norma worked for Boeing as an assembler for 10 years and married Delno (Del) K. Sheely in 1972. Norma and Del enjoyed traveling the world and visiting with family and friends until Del's passing in 1988. Norma continued traveling with friends in a travel club for many years. She is survived by her son, Bill Braman; daughter, Lou Anne Alexander; and daughter- in- law, Diane Braman; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was a most loving and caring person who will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her! Services will be held at Cypress Forest Lawn Church of Our Fathers on Monday, March 14 at 2 pm. I knew Norma for only a relatively short time by friendship with her son Bill through high school. She and husband Art were almost like a second mom and dad to me, as I spent many hours over at their house with Bill. Bill and I would sometimes get in a little trouble and his dad Art made up nicknames for us which I won't go into here. But I'll always remember Norma for her smile, always a sweet look on her face, and her kindness to me in spite of all that Bill and I did together. The last time I saw Norma was about 15 years ago. I was on duty and on my CHP departmental motorcycle and just happened to be in the area and drove by the house. When I stopped in front of the house, she must have seen me or something because she came out and said, with a big smile on her face, Well who do we have here? We talked for a few minutes, but then I got a call and had to leave. I will always remember her smile that day and how she greeted me. Bill, Lou, I just found out about this today (12/06/17) and I am so sorry and send you both my sincere condolences. If possible I would like to reconnect with the both of you sometime, possibly through email, Facebook, or maybe through Yahoo Messenger. Your mom and dad played a big role in my life, believe it or not.
Love, Rich (Carv...)

Bill, LouAnn so sorry for your loss. I loved Aunt Norma. I think of her often. She was always so good to me. When I lived across the street we laughed a lot together while Uncle Art and Jimmy worded on the truck and tasted the green beer. Aunt Norma you were a wonderful person and will be missed. God Bless Love You Your niece Linda Jordan Hanks
