Penny Lynn Temple

Penny Lynn Temple passed away suddenly at her home on March 25, 2015. She was born in Whittier, CA May 27, 1954, to Don and Ruth Temple. Penny retired from the pharmaceutical department at UC Irvine where she was employed for twenty-three years. She then worked for her father at Don Temple U Store and Lock in Long Beach until fully retiring. She was looking forward to traveling, and had a cruise booked from Istanbul, Turkey to Venice, Italy. Penny was a very compassionate and giving person. She was an active member of Las Damas, and volunteered at Long Beach Community Hospital. She supported the Long Beach Symphony "POPS", Miller Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. She was an animal lover and supported animal rescue. She enjoyed antique hunting for something to "take up a corner" or compliment her existing collection. She relentlessly covered most of Orange County and local antique stores when she decided there was something she wanted or, as she put it, "needed". She could not resist teddy bears and took many of them home. They became a part of her "donation collection" for various children's organizations. Penny was looking forward to this Easter Sunday, and was excited about preparing the family dinner in her newly remodeled kitchen. Dinner would include her famous cucumber sandwiches. It was to be a beautiful family day with an Easter Egg Hunt and baskets for the children. Penny was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Becky Temple, a niece, Summer Temple and her husband, Jon, and their two children and her step-mother Marlene Temple, extended family and close friends. Friends and relatives are invited to remember Penny and celebrate her life on Sunday, April 12th, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM in the Monarch Room at the Grand, 4101 East Willow Street, Long Beach. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to the Ronald McDonald House, one of Penny's charities.
