Robert Kirkpatrick Obituary

Mar 7th, 1932 - Jan 25th, 2022 Robert "Bob" Kirkpatrick, age 89, passed away at his home in Palos Verdes, California surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. A lifetime Southern California resident, he was born on March 7th, 1932, in Long Beach, California to Ray and Eleanor Kirkpatrick. He was a 1950 graduate of Wilson High School, a 1954 graduate of Berkeley, and a 1957 graduate of the UCLA School of Law. "Bob" is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years Nadine Camden Kirkpatrick, also a native of Long Beach. They resided in Long Beach until 1968 before moving to Rolling Hills on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula where they raised three boys -Gregg (Gina Maluccio), Grant (Shaya Davis) and Kent (Bernadette Nieto) and ten grandchildren Jack, Nicola, Ryan, Alise, Cameron, Allison, Ashley, Kyle, Ben and Colin. Bob was a proud member of the legal profession where he made lifelong relationships. He practiced law with his brother Gene and father Ray at Kirkpatrick & Kirkpatrick Law Offices in Long Beach for over 50 years. He was named Long Beach "Man of the Year" in 1974. He was known to have never missed one of his boys games -home or away. And beyond Nadine, his true love was the garden. He took meticulous care of his two acres whether it was mowing, irrigation repair, or never missing a weed. His jeans had the faint outline of a weed-digger in the back pocket. Bob was the last of four children -the doctor announcing his arrival 18 minutes after his twin sister Ramona was born with a loud "everyone back in here!". And though he was hard of hearing and had poor eyesight, he learned to read lips at the age of 5. He had an uncanny ability to nourish those around him with love, faith, and wisdom. He was the ultimate husband, father, and grandfather and the consummate gentleman. The family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace surrounded by light. Thank you from his entire family for the calls, food, cards, and flowers. The love we've received during this time has been truly appreciated. Bob's life will be celebrated by his immediate family at Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes on Saturday March 5th at 2pm. The tribute and burial will be attended by family only but live-streamed via tribucast that can be easily accessed by visiting: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/1899968820.

I just learned of Mr. Kirkpatrick.s passing. I was his banker at Sumitomo Bank for many years. We worked in the same building. He was one of my favorite customers. He was a lovely man and a good trust attorney. When my mother died I was referred to a wonderful Trust atty by Mr. Kirkpatrick for he had retired. When I retired from the bank he gave me a lovely huge flower and plant basket. I have never forgotten our customer and friend relationship. Thoughts and prayers for his lovely family. Recently I lost my wonderful Police Officer husband of 38 years and my sympathys to his family. Love Linda Uribe
