Rev. Edward Conner Kirkpatrick, age 89, of Nebo, went to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, March 12, 2026 at Mission Hospital McDowell.
He was born in McDowell County on May 11, 1936 to the late Rayburn Newton Kirkpatrick and Flora Morrow Kirkpatrick.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Eddie was ordained in the Free Will Baptist Church in his early 20’s. He pastored many churches throughout his preaching career. He most recently attended Clinchfield Baptist Church. Aside from his work for the Lord, he was instrumental in starting Kirkpatrick Tool Rental in 1990. Eddie was very skilled when it came to working with his hands. He enjoyed wood working and building items of all kinds, devoting much care to each project. A loving father, grandfather, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Finley Kirkpatrick, and one son, Carroll Kirkpatrick.
Those left to cherish his memory are two children, Jeannie Clontz (Jerry) and Robert Kirkpatrick (Tammy); daughter-in-law, Donna Marlow Kirkpatrick; two grandchildren, Nick Kirkpatrick (Desarae) and Matthew Kirkpatrick; one great-granddaughter, Kaley Kirkpatrick; one brother, Bill Kirkpatrick (Trish); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Clinchfield Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Terry Roach officiating. Interment will be held at McDowell Memorial Park on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made to Clinchfield Baptist Church, 1150 E. Court Street, Marion, NC 28752 for the building fund, or to the Gideon’s, McDowell West Camp, PO Box 1788, Marion, NC 28752.
